For starters, the Paleo Diet is based upon eating whole foods from the food groups our caveman ancestors would have lived on during the Paleolithic era (Some also call this the "Caveman Diet"). The foods our hunter-gatherer ancestors would have eaten include grass feed or free ranging beef, pork, poultry lamb and other wild game as well as fish/seafood, eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables, seeds, nuts, and healthy oils (ie. olive, coconut, avocado, macadamia, walnut and flaxseed).
Sounds good right? But wait...something is missing! This does not look like your typical food pyramid. Foods our Paleolithic ancestors would not have been able to come by were dairy, cereal grains, refined sugars and processed foods that we are used to consuming. Now we get to the next question...why would I want to follow such a diet? Decades of research by Dr. Loren Cordain show that hunter-gatherers typically were free from the chronic illnesses and diseases that run rampant in Western populations. Things like Obesity, Cardiovascular disease, Tooth Decay, Type 2 Diabetes, Cancer, Autoimmune Diseases and so much more were not seen during the Paleolithic Period. In fact just the other day I a 5th grade teacher say as she was educating her students about the Native American Population living throughout North America, that until Westerners arrived, the native population had little to no signs of tooth decay. Why? Because the Native Americans did not eat refined sugars! Huh? So I guess what I am saying is, I would like to live a full, long healthy life, and if by changing the way I eat and live I can do this I will. I don't want to be plagued by disease, I want to live my golden years knowing that I did all I could to be here, healthy and able to enjoy my family.
I have decided to commit 30 days to doing this. By changing the way I live (which for the past few years has been pretty healthy, but I know I need to do more) by following Paleo guidelines I hope to improve my overall health and longevity of life. I have heard it said that it takes just 21 days to change a habit and 4 weeks for YOU (as in yourself) to truly see the fruits of your labor and changes taking place in your body. I am looking for 5-10 people who are interested in doing the same. For 30 days we will workout (workouts will be discussed between you and I), we replace one meal a day with Shakeology (this is a non-negotiable as I believe in the power of the ingredients to create a healthier body both outside and inside for you) and we eat the rest of the day following Paleo guidelines (Don't worry, I
have done all the research and will provide you with the tools you need to be successful). For more information about joining the Paleo 30 Day Challenge email me at email@example.com
